The Opportunity

Organisations across Oman are entering a defining period for artificial intelligence. The national 2026–2030 Digital Economy Roadmap has committed to a national AI platform, digital transformation centres in every governorate, and a target of 10% GDP contribution from the digital economy by 2040. OMR 79 million has already been invested nationally in AI. The organisations that move with structure, clarity, and confidence will lead this transformation.

AI governance is the discipline that turns AI ambition into measurable, trusted, and sustainable outcomes. It is not a constraint on innovation — it is the framework that allows innovation to scale with accountability, public trust, and regulatory confidence.

The 7-Pillar AI Governance Model™ helps organisations move from AI experimentation to structured, governed, and value-driven adoption — aligned with Oman's regulatory requirements and international best practice.

The Regulatory Context

Oman's Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022) became fully enforceable on 5 February 2026. The MTCIT 2025 General Policy mandates human oversight, transparency, and accountability for AI systems in public services. Internationally, ISO/IEC 42001 establishes the first certifiable AI management system standard. Organisations with structured governance are positioned to meet these requirements as a natural outcome of good practice — not as a reactive compliance exercise.
